Whirlpool FF Fridge Freezer - Fridge very cold

Postby nannynick » Mon May 15, 2006 6:54 pm

Whirlpool Fridge Freezer (Frost Free I think)
ART 500-9/G/1
Service 8564500 15022 / 509938 028315
R134a

Concern: Fridge part getting too cold. No changes noted for Freezer part.

Last night, I noticed that the compresser was going all the time.
Today, inside the fridge there is ice buildup on the rear drip panel. Milk and Orange juice in the fridge have frozen.

Have turned down thermostat dial, from setting 4 to setting 3, and compressor has now stopped, though I wonder for how long, and if it will ever restart as increasing the thermostat dial does not make the compressor start again.

What are your thoughts? Will a new thermostat fix this, or is it terminal?
Advice much appreciated. Thanks, Nick.

This morning it seems it's back to life again, at least I can hear the compressor running and the milk is cold, not frozen.
Will change to setting 1 and report back later.

Its been on setting 1 now for 12 hours, all seems well. Fridge temp seems ok (sorry don't have a reading of the temp), Freezer part does not feel as cold as usual, but expect that's due to being on setting 1.

Should I now increase the setting, up to say 3 and see how it goes?
