Whirlpool Chest Freezer Model AFG524 - Power Bulb Blown!

Postby Tekno » Thu Jun 01, 2006 4:05 pm

Thought that this was an easy fix, blown green power on warning lamp! So ordered the replacement but then could find no way to access the control panel :(

Anyone have any ideas how to gain access to replace the bulb???

Thanks

:D

Just thought that I would post that the problem is solved - easy when you know how!

The control panel had been installed incorrectly in the factory and was easy to remove once the cover had been removed and then carefully levered out. The sheet metel (bent in the factory) could then be dressed back to its correct position and all is well.

So far as the pilot lamp (LED) is concerned there were three spade terminations to be made and with the use of a couple of double spade adapters the job was completed!

So if any one else has the problem I can now give a step by step procedure - should it be required!

Regards to all.

Hi Tekno
Many thanks for that repair tip. I would just like to add that when undergoing any repair, please make sure that the power is off and :plug:

:)

Hi Greg

Yes you are absolutley correct - the first principal whilst carrying out any repair is to isolate the equipment and if possible totally disconnect from the power supply!

For some of us it is an automatic procedure but of course there are others!

Thanks for making the point!

When giving info in the public forum it is paramount. Safety first, repair second.
Also, are you a trade member Tekno? If so that is fine.If you are a member of the public it isn't really allowed to give information/advice in any of the public forums, If you feel you have something you want to share please run it by site admin or any moderator first.

Thanks for your understanding
