Samsung SR-L36 Fridge/freezer warm fridge/cold freezer

Postby Mark22 » Tue Jul 25, 2006 4:04 pm

We have a Samsung SR-L36 Fridge/freezer. It's a single compressor
frost free model with fridge on top and freezer at the bottom.
Recently (in the hot weather) we have noticed that the fridge
temperature is too high (up to 12C). The freezer is fine at below
-20C at present, although it did frost up a little once.

We have turned it up to the maximum and it has not helped the fridge.
The compressor runs infrequently as normal. It is heavily loaded as
we have a big family. Can anyone give advice on how to diagnose this
problem? It seems to have an eletronic thermostat and the controls
are 5 LEDs on the front panel.

Maybe someone knows where I could get a repair manual for this?

It's not old at about 4 years.

One thing is that the fridge door switch is a bit dodgy. Sometimes when
the door is opened the light does not come on. Fiddling with the switch
seems to sort the problem out for a short time only.

I am reluctant to call an engineer since I am skint and also I have had
bad experiences before. I am not an expert in fridges, but I believe I
could fix it if I am helped at bit :-)

Thanks for reading this,
Mark

Hi

the probable fault lies with the fridge door that has dropped causing it not to actuate the light switch thus not turning the fan on correctly.

put a pound coin between the light switch and the top of the door tonight so that it pushes the light switch up and then leave shut till tomorrow.

If the temprature has recovered youve found your fault which will require the door to be removed and re set.

Hi bryan,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I was not aware it even had a fan. I have never heard one running. Should the fan always come on when the door is
closed? If not, how could I test the fan?

I'll try this, although the switch is dodgy anyway - could this be the problem?
The door looks OK. i.e. it closes with the top close the overhang at the top.

Would a replacement switch be cheap/easy to get/easy to fit?

Thanks again.

Thanks very much for the advice. I have tried putting some packing by the
door switch and the fridge temperature is much better (5-7C). It's maybe
a little too hot still but much improved.

How can I adjust the door on this model?

Thanks,
Mark
