Wanted: Homark 05-703205 Fan Motor and Oven Seal - Help!!

Postby Guest » Wed Aug 18, 2004 3:02 pm

Hello,

Can anyone please help me? I have a Homark 05-703205 oven which requires the following two parts:

1) Fan Motor. The existing one's details are:

Manufacturer Name: MES
Manufacturer Type: MV20G Class H 220-240V 50Hz Swiss Made 9J

NB: Bernstein Group have a different (and incorrect) motor currently designated on their computer system for this oven: they think one called the 76X6100 fits - an engineer brought one along and tried unsuccessfully to fit it.

2) Oven Seal. This is an oblong shaped seal which is fitted to the oven front interior. It provides a seal between the vents of the oven body and the door when the latter is closed.

Thanks in advance to all who reply with useful info.

Regards

There's two versions of this oven.

The 76X6100 motor only fits the /01 version, yours evidently isn't that one.

The motor you need is 76X3718 and the door seal 76X3716, prices are £42.07 and £23.57, plus £5 postage.

If you need these ordered, let me know by email and I'll arrange for you.

Is this appliance under guarantee/extended warranty then ?

Otherwise you will need to just buy the spares yourself, Caremark won't buy them from me as they can order direct from the manufacturer, in this case Brandt.

Hello Dave,

Thank you for replying again.

Yes, the oven is under a five year guarantee. I bought it in 2000. The thermostat went in January 2004, the element in March. During the latter repair, the oven door wasn't fitted back on properly, so the surrounding cupboard doors veneers were partially melted and the oven seal burnt.

The oven door was eventually refitted. The replacement fan motor was the wrong one so the old one went back on, despite the engineer's best efforts to prise its housing off so he could try to fit the new (incorrect) one. New cupboard doors have been delivered, along with a grill element for some mysterious reason.

Since January 2004 the repairs have been shuttled between Caremark, Expert Appliance Care, Appliance Express and Bernstein. Bernstein told me today they no longer handle repairs and told me to contact Caremark.

I have sent the details to Caremark.

Thanks again for kindly taking the time to reply.

Yep, got it thanks.

I have just checked the current stock levels at Brandt and they are now out of stock.

I am currently checking other stockists for availability.

I'll reply to the email when I have more details for you.

Regards.

I've also got this model fan oven, bought it in august 99 and it's had a new thermostat every year!

It's now out of warranty and I'm going to buy the part and get it fitted (much cheaper!). Can you source a thermostat for me and give me an idea of the price, Dave?

These are the details in case you need them:
Mod. 05-703205 Typ. B12
then there's a serial number, and some other numbers which say 230...240 V~50Hz Please let me know if you need more information,
thanks, Helen.

PS, forgot to say that I've also had a new element fitted (about 18 months ago) because the old one burnt out when the last thermostat went. So actually, my guess is that it could be either part that I need, or both.

Perhaps if you could let me know costs, I'll get a qualified person to do the diagnosis bit, then I'll order the part, THEN I'll get them back to fix it.

And in the meantime I'll plan on NOT buying Homark for my next kitchen, and carry on eating grilled meals

Thanks,
Helen.

Helen, details for you:

Element - £26.92
Thermostat - £30.92

Both inc VAT, add £4.50 to cover postage.

Let us know what the sypmtoms are, if the fan is running with no heat it will be the element generally, thermostat failure will normally allow the oven to overheat. Sometimes though the element (if it shorts) can cause the thermstat to fail at the same time.

As you say, ask an engineer to check for you, have a look in the directories for one in your area, or let us know the postcode, one of the many engineers on UKW should be able to assist.

Thanks Dave!

I think it might be both parts. The oven was running v hot for a while (ie OFF or BURN settings :D ) so that would indicate thermostat gone. Then last week the heating stopped although the fan and light are still okay, as is the grill.

I have left a message with a chap who does local repairs but he's not got back to me yet. My postcode is BS8 (Bristol) if anyone else can help.

Thanks,
Helen.

oops, forgot to put in my name on the last post.

Also meant to say that I had a look at the item which the Homark/Caremark engineer told me was the thermostat. It runs along the top edge of one of the oven side walls and looks like a sparkler (firework). IS that the thermostat?

That's the probe, Helen. If you followed it back you will find a skinny gas filled tube running back to the switch on the control panel. Any nips, serious kinks in the tubing or breaks will cause the thermostat to stop functioning.

Regards,
Penguin45.
Which bit of "Unplug it" is causing the problem?

Yeah, you may well need both by the sounds of it :(

There's no entries in the directories for Bristol at the moment, I'll check tommorow at the office to see if I can recommend someone.

We don't go quite that far up the M5 ;)
