Hotpoint tumble dryer is leaking water!

Postby Rupe » Mon Jun 13, 2011 4:35 pm

We have a Hotpoint CTD 80 Ultima, 2-3yrs old and we have not had an issue with it until now.

I have regularly cleaned the filter in the drum, and once
every 6 mnths cleaned the large silver tray filter underneath.

The water is coming from under the water tray... and when you pull it out to empty water, there is lots left in the long slot were the water container comes out of.

Any help or advise would be very gratefully received.

Not enough, once a month at least for the condensor, every single load for the door filter.

Does the 'Empty Water' light come on?

The back of the chamber that holds the condensor ( large silver tray filter) has a channel along the back that often gets clogged, you need to reach right into the back to clean this out.
Occasionally the small polystyrene float in the pump housing at the back can shrivel up to a tiny biscuit which will also give this fault.
That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

Yes the empty water does come on, i reached right to the back as you said the channel was clear. Then i gently took the housing at the back off the polystyrene float was in tacked/large.

At the bottom of the housing there was water and a small amount of fluff so i sponged it all out and checked all the pipes going from there to the water tray and they were clear.

Put it all back together and put the dryer on and there must have been a VA VA Voom moment :o It worked! :D

With your help it worked.

Many thanks
