Hover Junior 1334 Problem

Postby beko1987 » Sat Dec 10, 2005 8:52 pm

Hi Guys.

Stripped down and cleaned up a 1334 tonight, but during re-assembly I came across a wire I dont rememberseeing before. Not technically up on the lingo so I'll have to newbie it! The wire comes from the big C shaped bit of metal that the motor shaft runs through, and the thin copper wire thats wound round this c shaped bit of metal sever hundred times also connects to this yellow wire. Any ideas where this wire connects to? Havent got any other Juniors in at the moment ot check this out.

Cheers

Sam

The "C" shaped piece of metal is the field coil, the lead doubles up on the connection block on the outside of the motor with another lead but I've no idea which one now to be honest. I haven't seen one for years :?

The length may tell when reassembled of course as it will only reach one position ;)

Good Lord!..This takes me back to the mid 60's...when I was young and handsome 8)

Now even after all these years I can recall that one 'Field Coil' winding goes to one Carbon Brush terminal (the shorter of the 2) and the longer wire goes through the black casing (adjacent hole) round the side and through another hole alongside the terminal block and onto the terminal opposite the neutral lead (blue lead these days - was black in those days!)

ahhh such sweet memories.....

I've gotta admit to not being 100% sure about it :? But one thing I am sure about, is that Martin doesn't get things wrong 8)

However if you still have a problem, report back and I'll investigate on Monday morning, when I'm back at Goatboy HQ.

Being in the time-warped town of Nelson, I've got loads of Juniors laying around :D

PS. and of course, unplug the machine before attemping any repair.

lo guys.

Forgot to come back to here! I sorted it, the cable screwed to one of the carbon brush brackets. She purrs now! Completely stripped the motor, took the bearings apart and removed 40 odd years of dirt!
