Going back to getting the "beats as it sweeps" brush bar out of a 1334 for a moment....If the belt is broken (so you can't use the 'Alex method') simply remove the front cover and clout the brush roller with the wooden end of a hammer!
And to remove that bottom right hand motor fixing screw, there was a 'cut away' in the metal body to allow this access. Simply fold down the pink (yes pink - or an odd shade of red anyway) rubber furniture guard. Refitting the motor housing I found it best to insert the screw into it's hole in the housing first, then offer it into place before finally screwing it (if you catch my drift?).
What else?.....Oh I know, re-wiring the terminal block was always a challenge for many (workshop trainees) as they always disconnected those in-line suppressor and field coil terminals without noting which terminal went where? Putting the wrong wire in the wrong spot and then plugging it in was always a source of laughter in our workshop when all the lights in the building went out!...oh how we laughed!!
And when they changed the wiring design to a thru-terminal suppressor in the 1346E, well that did fox many when it came to putting it all back together.

P.S In the photo you gave us of your example of the 1334 madrat.....Does it have that all important pink rubber furniture guard (cos it ain't in the photo's?) I think if it had one and was in good nick then it would treble or quadruple the value of the whole appliance!
I don't think it would take much pulling. It looks like 100s of little bits of rubber connected with tiny bits of hair.
