Hi

I have been getting the error code E10 on my drying cycle. The washing cycle works fine but when I put it onto drying the cycle seems like it is working, spins fine etc and heats up but it doesnt dry anything. I just end up with very warm wet laundry!
I've checked the filter and little hose thing but didnt get any results. I am imagining it may be the condenser maybe although I know absolutely nothing about washing machines!
Its 5or years old and seems to work fine other than this, altough it smells a bit rubbery at times - more so since this drying thing.

Anyway, I rang an Engineer who said £62 +VAT call out and labour, and then parts on top and that parts for these machines were expensive.
They also offered £177 for fixing it including parts, call out etc and that it would then be insured for 12 months after this.
If it broke again they woudl fix it for free and if it broke badly they woudl replace it.

What should I do? How much do these parts cost and considering the age am I best to now just take the insurance option??

I know nothing about washing machines and dont know anyone that does so trying to fix it on my own isnt an option unfortunately - I can barely move the thing! lol

Its the fill valve at fault the coil feeding the condensor will be o/c .The valve costs around £25-£30 depending on the website you use.

If I get the Engineer out is that the sort of price they will charge me as well?
Im not able to fix it myself so will rely on the engineer to order sort out the parts and fix it you see.
Sorry if its a bit of an obvious answer, first washing machine problem and lack of funds to fix it!! Urgh

£62+vat is about the going rate around here for a total call out and labour charge for a repair so add to that the cost of a solenoid and that's the total cost.

If you subtract that from the £177(!)you can make a judgement whether 12 months cover is good value for all that extra money.

These machines have a pretty good reputation, often last 8-10 years or more and whilst they're not the 'rolls royce' of machines they certainly are a good average workhorse.

thanks ever so much for the reply. I think I will go for just the repair and keep everythign crossed then! Eek. Knowing my luck though...

Its great to be able to get peoples advice liek this as I was told that the parts were really expensive and that it could cost nearly the insurance amount to fix it anyway. I guess this is how they sell insurance products!

The machine seems to be working well still - very quiet, doesnt vibrate too much or get too noisy on the spin cycle although it snot exactly quiet but whose is! Its just this drying thing.
I think I will rish just the repair as its most likely to break after 12 months if its just been fixewd you'd hope!

Also, if you intend going down this path, make sure it is the machine that is insured, in full, for any fault and NOT just that repair inparticular.
