Bosch Electric Dryer tripping main circuit breaker

Postby tonytash » Sun Mar 22, 2009 2:51 pm

Hi all,

I have a Bosch WTA3003 electric dryer. Recently half-way through a cycle it tripped the main circuit breaker of the house. I reset the cicruit breaker and turned back on the dryer, the dryer switched on and finished the cycle. About ten days after this incident with the dryer working fine the dryer tripped the main circuit breaker again.

When we first bought the dryer we had this problem, which turned out to be a loose connection, so I disconnected the dryer from the mains and checked out the connections. All the connections look o.k., but on a small circuit board located on the righthand side of the dryer (looking from the front) 2 resistors look brown/slightly discoloured.

Also one of the live connections has a corroded spade connector. I haven't been able find any manuals on the model so I'm hoping that someone out there as come across this problem before and can shed some light on this problem?

Thanks in advance

Tony

Hi Tony: The 2 most common causes of this that I have come across are bad connections that intermittently arc & chafed wires in the harness.
If you have a crimping tool & connectors, replace the bad terminal first.
Then do a visual check on the harness for chafing.
Andy.

PLEASE REMEMBER: POWER OFF & PLUG OUT BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY INSPECTION OR REPAIR.
