Have taken the brushes out of my son's Servis wahing machine (don't know the model but its fairly old) and need replacements. The brushes are contained in a hard plastic cassete appro 10mm square by 40mm long. The cassete has 2 guide fins on the side. Does anyone know a web site to order these type. TIA

That's the old Quartz/Sapphire series by the sound of it in which case it'll need the old Hotpoint brushes...white holder for laminated, black for solid

The casette is black although it looks similar to the white ones shown in the link. I don't know the motor manufacture although on the info on the motor gives a type of BD6222 and a Cat No of 059086

The white ones are a later type fitted to all Hoptoint/GDA type motors until a few years ago. There are some of the black ones still around but the white ones will suffice.

thanks all for responses, went to local appliance spares shop and got white set for £15, washing machine now up and running. Noticed on the label on the motor a number 07/89 inferring the machines date of manufacturer. Were these machines manufactured around this date?? If so it makes it 18 years old which seems pretty good for a washing machine.

On my patch I have many hundreds of Hotpoint & Hoover machines well over 20 years old still going strong. You will need to budget for at least £650 to £800.00 to get that sort of lifespan today.

When you think about it, those old machines cost in the region of £250 to £350 over 20 years ago. Factor in inflation and you will come up with a figure that is around £700 to £800, makes you think, doesn't it.
