Hi, I have an Indesit IS70C condenser dryer which is quite noisy but only in the short reverse spin cycle?
In the standard direction the machine seems to be fine - perhaps a fraction louder than other machines but hardly noticable but when in reverse the noise is very loud!
It is a virbration that seems to be quitened by pulling back on the rear casing, is there any adjustment possible?
The casing itself is not damaged in any way.
Does anyone have any thoughts...bearings perhaps?

Ive just rotated the drum by hand and no abnormal sounds and free to turn.

Fans - most likely culprit. You could try taking the lid off and starting it. When the noise starts, gently squeeze opposite corners of the top of the casing and see if it stops. Don't stick your fingers in! If it doesn't, front fan is prime suspect.

It'll never be quiet, BTW. The casing is very flimsy and resonates like mad. The rear bearing is probably being quietly cut through even now, which leads to spectacular problems later....

Sorry, I wouldn't have one given.

Remove left hand side panel if you wish to access the fan and remove the cover panel.

Power off first, please.

thats left hand looking at it from rear, or right hand lookin at it from front

Thanks for the reply; I have had the lid off along with the side panels (not touching dryer though) and with all sides and top removed the resonance does reduce but only fractionally - if the corners are squeezed or compressed as suggested you can reduce the noise reduces a little more but still there.
Can the fans be accessed and cleaned to reduce the noise? Regards, Steve

cleaning them wont help, they need replacing

side panel off ( 1 screw on top 4 down side.. side panel pulls back and lifts of)

the fan is under the grey housing, in front of the belt, unclip the housing and lift off

squeeze the clip open and pull the fan off, replace, and reassemble in reverse order

Hi Helo_75 and Penguin45.

Top and side panel off, fan housing removed...when you mention that the fan should be "out of shape" in which way or direction would you mean?

Ive rotated the fan by hand but can only see a few mm of variation in the length during rotation and cannot really see anything end on? Can you tell me what I should notice/see?

Hi further development, fan removed and machine briefely turned on to both forward and reverse cycles and its now the bees knees of quietness.
Part on order and will confirm results when fitted.

i did include the bit about runninig it without the fan on in my initial post, but removed it ( have to consider safety, even though its very simple)

youll probably find the new fan may not be perfect, but it will make a hell of a lot of difference

cool! (if you pardon the pun) I judt didnt know the implications of not removing the heat from the condenser unit? I ren it with a small towel only so thought things couldnt be that bad....

I'll fit the new fan Friday and will let you know.

it doesnt actually remove the heat
that fan cools the condenser itself

so the steam is ran across in the opposite direction, so it condenses

doesnt matter much if you run it without that fan, it just wont dry

***UPDATE***

New cooling fan fitted today and the machine is now silent....well apart from the normal belt drum rotation noise
