Hello. I have a Indesit IS70C Condenser Dryer which is a week old. I've only ever had vented dryers before, and I'm unsure if I have a problem with this new one. The unit seems to me to be expelling an excessive amount of hot /damp air from the bottom and all sides of the dryer. The unit is situated in a small hall next to a bathroom and the back door,
and all the walls/windows of the area become soaked from condensation when the dryer is in use. The area is kept well ventilated at all times.

I realise that there is probably a marked temperature drop in this area of the house, but as I say do feel that the heat/moisture from the unit seems to be the main problem. I always follow the filter cleaning/water removal instructions between every load as described in the manual, and I've even cleaned the condensing unit as described in the manual, but the problem still persists.

I'd be very grateful if anyone has any advice, or any knowledge of this being a problem in this model, or did I have unrealistic expectations from a relatively cheap (£200) model.

Yes, you do need to get Indesit to send someone out to your machine as it should not be making the place damp. Is water collecting in the tank? The only way you might have problems is if the washing is too damp when it goes in the dryer, for example if it had not been properly spun by the washing machine.

Thanks for the reply. The water reservoir does fill to about half way with each load, and the filter accumulates a fair amount of lint after each load, which leads me to think that that part of the unit is working. The load is fully spun when going into the machine, and I've been very careful to make sure that the load amount is always under the guide level of 7kg.

I had suspected it may be a problem with the unit but as this was my first condenser dryer I was unsure what to expect in terms of heat/damp air expulsion from the machine, and where it should come from (it seems to expel heat/damp air from the base and joins of the side/back/top panels).

I'll call Indesit tomorrow, and thank you very much for your help.

Which? magazine a few years ago did a report on condenser driers, and found the worst (Hotpoint, Creda - you can lump Indesit in too) belched 50% of the moisture extracted from the clothes, back into the room.

The best on test was Miele, followed by the slightly cheaper AEG, and an even cheaper Zanussi.

To date, Zanussi condenser models still get a good report from Which?

You have to have a decent amount of cool air entering the room, or else the wallpaper will start to peel.
