LG WM16115FD Intermittent leaking

Postby acthell » Thu Feb 07, 2008 3:41 pm

Hi! I'm wondering if anyone can advise me what the best course of action to take with my LG washer. (4 years old)

It's leaking intermittently (say every 3rd wash) sometimes more often, sometimes less  It seems to happen when going through the emptying cycle (usually 7mins before switching off) sometimes it will leak when going through to the rinse cycle... it's never consistent!

I've checked the filter hose thing (bottom left hand corner) and now seem to have empty BOWLS of water every couple of washs (is this significant? If so what does it mean?)

I've checked the little screw cap in the bottom left corner flap to check for stuck objects or limescale ... it's neither ... both clean and empty.

It's not the soap drawer or gunk in the conditioner tray - I clean it at least once a month. I've cleaned the intake drawer recess regularly - there is some slight limescale but nothing terrible... no mould, nothing.

The leak appeared to come from under the drawer... but in fact I've ascertained it comes from under the electronic panel ... at least it drips /runs down from underneath the LCD panel .... or even on the side around the door...

I've also discovered a rust patch where the silver "paint" has come away from the front of the washer... i don't know how/when it happened ... the washer is on quite a lot as I've a young family ....

Please advise I don't want to waste £70 on a call out charge if it's a sock in an inner part of the pump or something... I've got a 5y parts warranty is is advisable to use... Is there anything my husband can do to it that will extend its life for a little longer :?

Thanks in advance

Hi

It will be the soap dispensor that you will ned to change.

This is a common problem that has been with your machine since it was first introduced.

Do you mean the actual housing itself or the drawer? Is it a simple job to do... i.e would my husband be able to do it?

secondly (and I realise you can't see the machine) but you don't think it's significant htat the water pools on the opposite side to the dispenser? And do you think that the water in the filter drain is just building up because of the problem with the housing. I appreciate your reply... I could really do without a repair bill at the moment :?

Hi

The repair is a simple one but not knowing how compident your husband is.
The dispensor itself is the problem, your lucky its lasted,I was changing these on new machines every 6 months.

Power off before opening the appliance.
