Maurice Lay Distributors is one of the large kitchen distributors in the UK which has been around for some time. In the 1980's they launched their own budget brand of appliances under the Caple name.
Appliances can be made by a number of companies in any number of countries but appear to be mainly sourced from the usual suspects such as Menenghetti for cooking and so on. Caple do however design their own aesthetics whilst using the backbone of other products.
Retail Prices
The trade had the view that Caple was a budget brand with budget appliances and this is reflected in the overall quality and, whilst this may have been true to an extent in the past, of late it's not the case as we've seen it. Probably the biggest obstacle there is that the brand is or was rarely seen outside kitchen specialists (good for them as it means they are not competing with online sellers) and therefore repairers wouldn't have seen very much of the brand and assumed it was just another cheap one that would probably disappear at some point. That would have been wrong.
Caple have improved their products, seem bent on continuing to do so and are trying to move more into the mid-market segment of the market.
