CDA was established in 1991 by Ian Kershaw, the CDA managing director after a successful career running his own distributorship and sales of appliances.
CDA's primary focus has been in the design elements of the appliances which they sell, some are quite striking although it will depend on your taste as to whether or not they will appeal to you. This is CDA's forte though, making the appliances look that little bit different and using limited production runs for certain designs.
Of course the lower end appliances which we see most of are produced to a price for budget kitchen installations and contract building works. Some of the appliances are good and some aren't so good but all are backed by a five year parts warranty and now a two year labour warranty as well.
In addition to the usual ovens, hobs, hoods and cookers CDA have introduced built-in coffee machines, domino hobs and induction hobs to their range lately and they do cover a considerable range of appliances now. Washing machines seem to be Italian in origin for the most part whilst dishwashers are mainly Whirlpool or from Haier for the cheap ones.

CDA Market Position
As with other kitchen specialist brands they are largely sold through kitchen specialists as part of a kitchen package and so often the true cost is hidden within that. It would be fair to say that CDA would sit in the lower to middle ground in terms of pricing. Of course price checking some appliances is made difficult as they are only sold through kitchen retailers.
All the appliances seem to be sourced from Europe, mainly Italy and also some from China.
CDA Spare Parts
CDA spares are reasonably easy for the most part as most of the appliances that they use are based on common platforms that are shared with other brands such as Caple, DeLonghi and many others. A lot of the commonly used spares are available in our online store from this link with many being considerably cheaper than the CDA list prices due to the fact that they are so common.

CDA Aftersales Service
CDA use a mixture of their own engineers in some areas as well as independent service agents. Labour charges within the five year parts warranty is circa £70-90 at the time of writing (2011) which is on a par with other, similar, schemes if not slightly cheaper.
Generally after sales service is pretty good on the whole.
Spares can be an issue at times with poor supplies however, as the appliances are sourced and not actually manufactured by CDA alternatives can often be found. Pricing wise there's not too much information as we haven't seen too many outside the five year warranty however we would expect them to be in line with other brands in this area of the market.
It is worth bearing in mind that the with the warranty you cannot repair the appliance yourself, you must have any repairs or spares fitted by either a CDA engineer or an approved agent and, obviously, that involves paying the labour charges. Self-repair or repair by an unauthorised third party is not allowed and if this is done it will almost certainly invalidate your warranty.
On the other hand you could take out a maintenance policy to cover any potential costs but, as is the case for most of these contracts, it isn't set up so you make money out it. If you're very unlucky any potential repairs would cost you more than the policy but for the vast majority of people, that's unlikely.
Out of warranty most of the engineers listed on our engineer search will happily repair a CDA product for you.
