Proline

No Longer Trading

The Proline brand is no longer trading and there is no active support that we are currently aware of for either the brand or products

Proline was like most other own label brands with this one being owned and operated by Comet and, to our knowledge, was only sold by Comet, serviced by Comet and spares were often only available from Comet. Actually spares can be obtained through UK Whitegoods for a heap of Proline machines as we know what many of them actually are and simply cross-reference.

The brand is positioned at the budget end of the market with (seemingly) many of the current range coming in from China and the likes to keep the costs down. For example the integrated dishwasher, the Proline DWI 5212P, would appear on a cursory glance to be one of the Haier produced integrated dishwashers and, frankly, they are utter rubbish.

It is unfortunate that this is so as, in the past, Comet have chosen some pretty decent machines to represent the Proline brand name, okay so not all were perfect as they did use Brandt, but the Blomberg washing machines were pretty good and the old Ocean machines (later to become Brandt) were actually pretty good. Some of the refrigeration was also pretty well made.

Laterly you could find almost any product imaginable being sold under the name in Comet stores, owned by Kesa Electricals now as well as, we suspect, Darty stores in France, as it seems to be used as a general "Comet" brand for anything from a DVD player to a washing machine or fridge freezer.

  Proline Retail Position

Used to be snapping at the mid-market but recently there appears to have been a downwards trend on pricing placing it firmly in the realms of the budget market.

  Proline Spare Parts

Likewise spare parts were very often ludicrous prices from Comet who supply through their spares website or customer service department.

The only ray of hope here is that, as the appliances get a little older, we learn what they are and who actually made them (often not much help with the Chinese stuff) and we can often supply spare parts considerably cheaper than Comet could.

We are starting to see a number of especially cosmetic and plastics start to become unavailable from about 2015 onwards though.

  Proline Service & Repairs

Aftersales service from Comet wasn't cheap!

But it now no longer exists since the collapse of Comet.

The independent repairers can often repair Proline appliances at a reasonable cost as they know what they are looking at.

Chest Freezer Seal
I have been using a Proline PCF105 for several years and it is still working fine. The problem though, is that the lid seal has gone hard and does not seal properly any more. I have found a company that will make seals to order after giving them the length, width and section profile but they are very expensive. I believe that Comet must have bought these Proline products from a manufacturer but who, and do they still have any parts to sell?

That one is listed being \"Naiko\" so, probably some random Chinese production for Comet.

The seal only came as part of the lid complete and it is obsolete unsurprisingly.

Hi Alan,

You would need to contact spares@ukwhiteg oods.co.uk for the parts, if they are still available of course but the hinges sound a reasonable bet.

Hi Andrew,

There is no info on that model at all now as Comet that owned the Proline brand ceased to exist in 2012 and that will be why you are struggling to find those parts.

I have tried but I cannot locate any info on it even although we know it will be the same as something else, I can\'t tell you what from scores of them.
