Amica's origins date back to 1921 when the first factory was opened. Its production profile has been changing several times afterwards. During the Second World War the enterprise was administered by Koch-Bergfels, a German plant. After the war the plant was involved in performing overhauls of agricultural machinery and motor vehicles.
Since 1945 the Wronki plant has been manufacturing cast iron and tin products as well as agricultural machinery.
The first coal gas cooker was manufactured in 1957. During subsequent years heating appliances became the plant specialty. Gas cookers were first manufactured in 1961 and since then for almost 20 years the USSR was the leading buyer of heating appliances manufactured in Wronki.
1981 witnessed the company entering the East German market; during that time the product portfolio was expanded to include electric cookers.
In the late 1980s due to the downturn of the export to the East, it was necessary to find new customers. At that time after the plant and products were upgraded, the sales to the West Germany started.
In the long history of the plant its name and organizational structure have been changed several times. In the 1970s the company operated under the name of "Zak?ady Sprz?tu Grzejnego Predom-Wromet" (Predom-Wromet Heating Equipment Manufacturing Plant).
On 24 August 1990 the plant was renamed to "Fabryka Kuchni Wromet we Wronkach", and from November 1992 r. it functions as "Fabryka Kuchni Wronki".
In late 1992 apart from the existing cooker manufacturing plant a new plant was constructed, namely - "Fabryka Armatury Sp. z o.o." (Appliance Factory), which was the first in Poland to manufacture built-in kitchen appliances with unique and new design.
It was formed by "Fabryka Kuchni Wromet" - a legal predecessor of Amica Wronki S.A. and other companies.
On 1 March 1993 "Fabryka Kuchni Wronki we Wronkach" (Wronki Cooker Factory in Wronki) a state-owned enterprise was transformed into a single-shareholder company of the State Treasury styled "Fabryka Kuchni Wronki Sp. z o.o." (Wronki Cooker Factory).
On 24 May 1994 the State Treasury represented by the Minister for Ownership Changes on one part, and Ami ca Holding S.A. and Bank Handlowy w Warszawie S.A. on the other part, executed a sales agreement under which 80% of shares in the Company were acquired by the latter entities.
In July 1994 the construction of the refrigerator factory was commenced. In November 1996 the start-up process was completed and four years later another modern manufacturing facility (washing machine factory) was erected nearby. Both factories are currently one of the most modern facilities of that type in Poland. All technologies applied are fully computer controlled, environment friendly and meet the requirements of the strictest EU standards.
Currently Amica Wronki S.A. is an organisation comprising four modern manufacturing plants (cookers, appliances, refrigerators and washing machines).
1996 was a breakthrough for the company; then the Management Board decided to transform Fabryka Kuchni Wronki sp. z o.o. in a joint stock company, Amica Wronki S.A. Due its ambitious investment programme, the Management Board of Amica Wronki S.A. became active on the public capital market. Since 1997 the Company's shares have been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
