Elba was formed in 1950 in the Vicenza Province of Italy by Elio Baggio ("EL" and "BA" forming the ELBA name) and started producing sinks and taps for the likes of Zoppas and Zanussi.
In the 1960's Elba opened a factory to produce freestanding cookers under the Elba brand name. In 1978 The compnay began to produce built in ovens and hobs.
Around 1986 and 1987 DeLonghi bought Elba including the production facilities owned by the company.
Then in June 2006, Elba was acquired from DeLonghi for €78 million. Elba has been since been renamed Fisher & Paykel Appliances Italy S.p.A. and exports to over 54 countries but appears to be focusing on the UK market.
Elba has been, it appears, largeluy forced to play to retail price points in the UK. Essentially retailers demand that certain products are sold at particular prices and due to that quality can be degraded and features left out, the one good example of this is th elack of cooling fan motors on certain freestanding cooker and range cooker models. However, aside from this, the cookers are, for their price range, actually fairly good.
Spares are little problem with most common cooker and oven spares easily available and at reasonable prices for the most part. We carry most popular Elba cooker spares.
Due to the easy availability of spares and the generally simple nature of the cookers and ovens most of the repairers will happily repair an Elba product.
