John Lewis Appliances

A range of John Lewis appliances

A few years ago John Lewis started to sell its own label brand of appliances with a range of washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwasher and cooking appliances and has now grown the range to incorporate some integrated products as well.

Largely these are made by the Electrolux Group on John Lewis' behalf. Some products, dishdrawer and some refrigeration products are re-branded Fisher & Paykel appliances.

Much to the annoyance of many service technicians in the trade John Lewis claim that their products are, "Manufactured with reliable German technology they are developed with the latest engineering and electronic systems". To our knowledge not a single product is produced in Germany although some do appear to be based on AEG cosmetics which may or may not be the "German" design element of the claim. It is fair to say however that none or very few of the appliances that we have seen originate in Germany.

There are even a number of products supplied by Smeg, rebadged.

  John Lewis Appliances Market Position

John Lewis have placed their appliances in that so-called "premium mass market" segment competing with Bosch, AEG and so on relying we expect quite heavily on the John Lewis branding to give these appliances some substance and offering a free three year warranty. This also prevents the machines from being price compared and allows John Lewis to maintain its price pledge to customers.

  John Lewis Appliance Service

Servicing seems to be mixed between Service Force agents who service other Electrolux Group produced appliances and Fisher & Paykel service agents.

Most of the independent repair companies in our engineer search will have little trouble repairing John Lewis appliances as they are essentially standard Electrolux fare for the most part although there are som Fisher & Paykel produced machines and a few from Smeg also.

  John Lewis Appliance Spare Parts

Spares for John Lewis appliances don't present too many challenges as most are available through regular channels from Electrolux or Fisher & Paykel. Many of the common spares used on other Zanussi, AEG and so on products that are common we hold in stock and almost any spare part can be acquired quickly.

Asking about spares before ordering, unless you are absolutely sure of course, is a better way to approach getting spare parts for your John Lewis appliance as it can be challenging due to multiple variants on many models and often the PNC or product code from the rating plate will be required to find the correct parts for the product you own. Doing this also allows us to look for any lower cost alternative parts that might be avaialble so, it can also save you money as well as time and hassle.
