A few years ago John Lewis started to sell its own brand of appliances with a range of washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwasher and cooking appliances and has now grown the range to incorporate some integrated products as well.
Largely these are made by the Electrolux Group on John Lewis' behalf. Some products, dishdrawer and some refrigeration products are rebranded Fisher & Paykel appliances.
Much to the annoyance of many engineers in the trade John Lewis claim that thier products are, "Manufactured with reliable German technology they are developed with the latest engineering and electronic systems". To our knowledge not a single product is produced in Germany although some do appear to be based on AEG cosmetics which may or may not be the "German" design element of the claim. It is fair to say however that none of the appliances that we have seen originate in Germany.
John Lewis have placed their appliances in that so-called "premium mass market" segment compteting with Bosch, AEG and so on relying we expect quite heavily on the John Lewis branding to give these appliances some substance and offering a free three year warranty. This also prevents the machines from being price compared and allows John Lewis to maintain its proce pledge to customers.
Spares for John Lewis appliances don't present too many challenges as most are available through regular channels from electrolux or Fisher & Paykel. Many of the common spares used on other Zanussi, AEG and so on products that are common we hold in stock and almost any spare part can be aquired reasonably quickly.
Servicing seems to be mixed between Service Force agents who service other Electrolux Group produced appliances and Fidher & Paykel service agents.
