AGA company logoAGA Appliances

AGA is Rangemaster, Rangemaster is AGA and now the whole lot is owned by the American company Middleby as at the end of 2015.

What the future holds for AGA Rangemaster is currently not known although we would expect it to trade largely as is.

We realise that a lot of people have a romantic notion about the old AGA cookers, the big lumps of cast iron that sit heating all day and they may well have been the in thing a hundred years ago but these days, they’re not so popular.

Our opinion is that these machines are inefficient and not exactly the environmentally friendly option when it comes to buying a cooker although in fairness to them they do seem to go on forever. But what with modern homes being so well insulated and having central heating etc it really is hard to justify a cooker that runs all day long.

Other AGA products seem to be merely rebranded Rangemaster machines along with many of the products produced by third party suppliers as own label brands from the likes of Hisense and others. This may well change over time with the new owners stamping on that practice but for the time being our advice would have to be to avoid anything other than the cookers as that’s all AGA Rangemaster do.

However, even some cooking products are bought in from outside sources so care is needed.

If you are looking to buy a new range cooker which is what AGA is famed for then you should probably read these articles as well:

  AGA Service

For the old cast iron AGAs it seems to be dedicated company employed technicians but for other products calls can be outsourced to numerous independent repairers and also to the likes of First4Service so where the call ends up and who does will be determined by what product it is.

  AGA Spare Parts

For the old AGAs it’s AGA only and you just need to stump up whatever it costs and live with it. Sorry, there’s no alternative.

For the range cookers and other products it is much the same as it is for Rangemaster branded products.
