Samsung has announced the release of a new 8-kilogram washing machine for Australia that washes without water it is claimed.

The new model features AirWash, which removes odours from clothes without the need for water or detergent. As far as we are aware it will not clean clothes as would be achieved in a normal washing machine.

On last night's Watchdog Samsung were slammed for problems with their American styled side by side fridge freezer, the RS21. The show basically stating that customers can experience a noise and lack of cooling in the fridge due to an over frozen fridge evaporator. On top of this the model was shown to provide inaccurate temperature readings in the digital display panel.

Samsung did give a response that offers their customers a free repair if required.

South Korea could face fierce global competition that threatens entire industries in four to six years, Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee said.

"Not only Samsung but the whole nation should wake up. Otherwise we may face a chaotic situation in four to six years," Lee said at a meeting of business and political leaders at Kim Koo Museum in Seoul on Friday, the Korea Times reported.

Earlier today I got a note that Samsung had launched an "Air Wash" system to compliment their previous nano-technology, "Silver Nano", washing system that is now banned in some countries and this is the release to with that.

Basically the machine looks like the previous "Hauzen" machine that was in the news a short time ago, it's still red and, still ugly although it does look to be tamed down a little.
