It seems that Bosch are trying to capitalise on the appliance rebate scheme launched in the USA, which is absolutely stupid and pointless but isn't stopping the European AMDEA from shouting for the same thing, by offering extra discounts on top of the government backed incentives.

Desperate for cash maybe as Bosch have reportedly just suffered their only losses in decades this past year... who knows but, if you're in the USA and want a Bosch, now could be a good time to buy one. If you're in the UK no such luck we're afraid.

Bosch, the world's biggest supplier of car parts and manufacturer of domestic appliances, plans to cut its staffing by 10,000 jobs this year and to keep a further 100,000 other workers on reduced hours.

The 10,000 job cuts are expected to be made worldwide from among Bosch's 280,000 staff, but it has not said how many of its 5,000 UK staff will be affected. Bosch is expected to report its first full-year loss since the Second World War, with sales down by around 15 per cent to €38 billion (£34 billion), said Franz Fehrenbach, the company's chief executive.
