Electrolux have issued a product safety recall on certain touch control ceramic hobs and it does sound as if it is impotant to have this looked at if you own one of the affected appliances.
The following comes from the safety noticed issued by Electrolux;
Our quality control programme has identified that in certain circumstances, some AEG and Electrolux ceramic glass touch control hobs (See table below) could remain switched on, even if the hob main "off" switch has been pressed.
This could lead to an injury or a fire if any items are left on the hob.
The model number of the hob is clearly shown on the instruction book which came with the hob. If you can no longer find the instruction book, you can check if you have an affected model by looking at the code in the corner of the ceramic glass.
If the model number or glass code matches one in the table below then the hob is an affected model.

Consumers owning one of these hobs should contact: AEG & Electrolux Careline on 0800 33 43 53 between 8.00am and 6.00pm Monday - Friday, or 9.00am and 5.00pm Saturday "“ Sunday
Or E-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to arrange for a free-of-charge visit from a service engineer to rectify the fault.
Please note: You can continue to use your hob but you must turn each zone off individually by counting down to zero and then switch off the hob main "off" switch. As an additional safety measure, you should then turn your hob off at the mains supply.
This safety notice does not affect any other AEG or Electrolux appliance.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your co-operation.
