If you live in the UK and you've ever been in a shopping centre or most major high streets then you will know who Next are without much more explanation.
At one stage Next teamed up with a company called DRL Limited, who most people will never have heard of but that comapny changed to AO who most people will know, to offer an online only service supplying domestic appliances. All you may think is well, big high street retailer etc. but, what most people also do not know or understand si that you aren't actually buying from Next. If you look really closely at the bottom of Next's website for appliances you will notice, almost completely blacked out and not very clear at all the following lines:
Nextdomesticappliances.co.uk is operated by DRL Limited. The goods you buy from this site will be purchased from DRL Limited unless purchased on a Next Account.
Goods purchased on a Next Account will be purchased from Next Retail Limited.
What this is telling you, quite simply, is that Next the brand and company that you think you are buying from isn't actually the retailer at all and if it all goes wrong at some point then you will be dealing with DRL, not Next. Unless of course you buy your appliance on a Next Account.
Why this is not made clearer to people we can't say. But it sort of makes sense in a twisted way, after all, what would a clothing retailer know about houshold appliances?
Apparently enough to lend their name to a line of "Next washing machine" models that by all accounts are made for them by Vestel in Turkey like many other washing machines are these days and simply badged up much as many other own brand labels for Next.
Next spares are being handled by a company in the North East called JTM Contracts at the time of writing, there are no other sources currently and prices can be high depending on the spares required for your washing machine.
Engineers carrying out service also state that spares can be difficult to get.
Little spares information is available.
A challenge when out of warranty due to lack of spares distribution and limited information.
Many of the repair companies will shy away from the brand due to these restrictions often leaving you with little choice other than to return to Next (or is that DRL) to get service on these washing machines.
Please do not use the comments below to ask for technical support or fault help on any Next appliance as the engineers will not see the request. Please use the forums where more help may be available and is a completely free service.
