Neff appliances logo

Neff is famous for its range of built in ovens and hobs primarily and has become one of the staple brands of kitchen companies throughout Europe over the past sixty years or so offering customers a good product from a good brand at attainable pricing.

Neff is an old and well respected German brand name that has been in existence since 1877 but didn't produce it's first oven until 1914 however Neff only really started to take off as a domestic appliance manufacturer in the 1950's.

Neff however is not what most people think it is.

During the latter half of the last century Neff was heavily involved with AEG Telefunken with the two companies working together to remain competitive as global corporations such as Whirlpool and Electrolux started to take hold of the mass market and encroach into the built in market. Ultimately AEG was bought by Daimler Benz in 1985 and ultimately sold to Electrolux Group in 1994.

Neff meanwhile was sold to the BSH Group, Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte in 1982 when AEG originally went bankrupt.

Today Neff is a division within the Bosch Group and used as a more upmarket offering from the more mainstream Bosch products but seems especially focused on the kitchen retailer market with limited presence in any of the major electrical chain stores.

  Neff Service

The official route to service is through Bosch Group Service (BSH) however this can be expensive and many independent repair companies are quite happy repairing Neff appliances as much as they are Bosch as there are many shared components and products.

It is worth noting that BSH do employ the Cover +1 system and will often attempt to sell you a warranty policy when you call for service outside of the appliance's warranty.

It is also worth noting that, especially on newer products, that technical information is extremely restricted and you may be forced to use BSH's own service regardless as this policy does not allow independent repairer's access to technical support to offer lower cost repairs. You can find a local repair company using our engineer search facility to repair your Neff appliance.

  Neff Spare Parts

Neff spare parts are generally easily available however, like all BSH Group products you will need all the numbers from the rating plate, especially the all important "GB" number to order almost any spare part that isn't easily identifiable.

Spare parts can be expensive.

That said there are a number of spare parts that can be cross referenced to offer cheaper (in some cases a lot cheaper) alternatives, this is especially so with many oven heating elements and thermostats. So, it is worth asking us if we know of any alternative spare parts that may be suitable.

Feedback we have seen from the troops is mixed
Feedback we have seen from the guys is very mixed with many stating that they feel the quality of Neff has dropped and beratign the lack of technical info, sealed units and programmable electronics

Not so easy to DIY repair many Neff products as there is no tech information avaialble
Neff get scored down here for the Bosch policy of not sharing any technical info at all, if you ever need tech support you're out of luck other than using the forums for help
Spare parts availability
Almost all spare parts available from any major supplier
Almost all spare parts available from any of the major suppliers
Spare part pricing
Mostly okay
Mostly okay but with some really silly expensive prices at times is the best we can say as most parts are just Bosch bits

Not enough information on Neff's environmental policies

Overall Rating

Our advice, avoid this one!
Bosch by any other name is all Neff really is these days, it's just a boatload more expensive than the Bosch version and often, it's not even German as most people think it to be
