Baumatic dishwasher fault codes and spare partsThis series of Baumatic dishwashers was made and branded for Baumatic by a Chinese manufacturer called Midea.

These fault codes will also relate to other brands that have had dishwashers produced on the same platform as Baumatic have and these will generally relate to Chinese produced 45cm and 60cm wide integrated dishwashers.

It should also be noted that many of the engineers in the forums regard these machines as next to junk and extremely problematic. There is some evidence to support this notion given the number of service bulletins and memos on these dishwashers from Baumatic and other brand names as well.

Common Problems With These Dishwasher Models

There are a number of common problems that crop up regularly with these dishwashers. Most seem to be down to low build quality and low pricing as they seem to be based on a cut down version of an old Indesit design and, it wasn't very good. The initial (in our opinion) not very good design was taken out to China and replicated (badly) there.

They are a nightmare to get access to with most having to be completely removed, side panels removed and more before you can even get the inspection panel off to have a look!

Random Numbers In The Dishwasher Display

If you get what appears to be random numbers in the display, like the following: 0A, 09, 07, 06, 05, 04, 03, 02, 01, 00 then do the following;

Turn the dishwasher off using the power button/ Press and hold the "P" button while turning the dishwasher back on, holding the P button all the while. Release the button once the machine flickers to life and it should be reset and ready to go.

If you get 17 coming up in the dishwasher display, it is caused by the delay button being pressed before the power button is pressed. Reset as above and this will clear the error for you.

  The E4 Dishwasher Error

According to the manufacturer the E4 error will be given if the vent for overflow when water level exceeds the set level overflow water triggers the lower float, terminates operation and gives E4 warning.

Good explanation, or not really.

Basically if the dishwasher gets any water into the base then the float switch should be activated halting the program as it thinks there's a leak. however there are a number of things that can cause it to happen when you don't want it to happen or, you might also say, there's a number of things that can cause these dishwashers to leak.

  • Excessive foam from inferior washing detergent causes E4.
  • Water enters the external overflow apparatus due to the door opening and closing process.
  • Pressure difference in door opening/closing at high temperature.
  • Water spilt into the internal tubes during the washing process.
  • Water entering the overflow tube because of the appliance not being leveled correctly.

In short, as we've said in the forums, it almost seems as if looking the wrong way at these dishwashers causes them to leak. When they do, you get an E4 error and the dishwasher is dead as a doornail.

You can try tipping the dishwasher forward to empty out any residual water in it and that may clear this error (works sometimes) however if there is a leak internally somewhere it will reoccur very quickly.

Before you start any investigation of the fault or even remove any panels or open up your Baumatic dishwasher please read and fully understand this article in full and pay particular attention to the safety and information notices at the bottom of this page as they contain extremely important information!

About Dishwasher Fault Codes and Diagnostics

Like other fault codes these written for dishwasher repairers and not for the general public by Baumatic and UK Whitegoods and they assume a certain level of competence on the part of the user in diagnostic routines. We have added some notes to try to assist you in determining the nature of the fault you have but, you will still need to investigate each failure on its own merits. For more help and advice on fault finding on a dishwasher please refer to our dishwasher fault finding guide from this link before you begin.

Please check that any Baumatic dishwasher spares recommended are suitable for use on your particular model and production code or serial number. If you are unsure about the suitability of any spare part please ask to ensure that you get the correct spares for your dishwsasher. Please, don't guess or assume as spares can be altered on a production run with the same model number having several different alternative components used.

More Baumatic Dishwasher Help, Advice And Guidance

Should you need more help and guidance please use the links from this article as most of them will help you to understand your Baumatic dishwasher a lot better and probably very much help you in diagnosing the fault you have. Of course there are many other articles on the site that will also help you do this.

In addition you can post in our dishwasher forum after registering but please do pay heed to the information below before doing so and read the guides, they are there to help you. But if you are in any doubt at all or don't think you are up to diagnosing the fault yourself please use our engineer search.

You must understand certain things before you begin or attempt any repairs on your own and we want to make these points very clear to anyone that decides to investigate one of these or any other dishwasher:

  • We are not responsible for your safety, you are and by using this guide you accept that and accept that any damage that you may cause and work undertaken is entirely at your own risk.
  • We will advise the common causes of the fault codes but we cannot guarantee that any parts or work recommended will resolve the issue. It is entirely your responsibility to diagnose your particular problem and resolve it.
  • We are not responsible for you buying spares that do not resolve the problem, this is down to your own diagnosis not ours.
  • No warranty is inferred, implied or given.

You also have to be aware that these dishwasher fault or error codes are not a "magic bullet", they will not tell you what the problem is, they will only offer you an indication of where the problem lies and they are no substitute for diagnostic skills. You can find out more about what fault codes actually tell you in this article. So please be well aware that, even with this new found knowledge you will still have to actually be capable of investigating and diagnosing the problem and this means adhering to basic appliance safety for working on them.

Please do note that manufacturers can and do change fault codes without notice and we cannot guarantee that these error codes will apply to your particular model as all codes apply to a wide range of appliances and not normally any one specific model. To determine if these fault codes do apply to your particular Baumatic dishwasher model please post a request to confirm this in the forums.

BBM14S IAG/Baumatic dishwasher not draining/ working!
Hi, I would love anyone's suggestions please.

I forgot to replace the filter after cleaning it last night, so my dishwasher went probably 20 mins without the filter. The cycle then turned super stinky and had some residual water at the bottom. I tried to then clean the dishwasher with an empty wash and it is full of dirty water that is now leaking on to the floor. I have removed the drainage hose and tried to check for blockages from both ends. I have now reset it and it is showing r1 with a 2 curly arrows intertwining. Hoping not to pay an arm and a leg for a repair person so any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I had the E4 code come up and turning it off at the mains didn't work. We tilted the machine backwards and the the water drained out. We left it to drain and then it worked perfectly. Yippee, thanks for the advise.

I have a Baumatic BDW45.1 45cm Full Height Dishwasher.I have just returned from abroad after three months and used the machine and worked fine; second attempt 24 hrs later and I get an E4 Error message. As soon as I put the power on and attempt to program the cycle number in, the E4 error message comes up and the motor sounds as though its attempting to empty some water from machine. It stops after about 15 seconds.Any idea what the problem can be; I have looked at the reason for E4 messages, but can see no leak and use the best detergents.Any idea what the problem may be. Never had any problems in 6 years.
