Colour fading from items when washed in a washing machine

The nature of curtains and bedspreads means that they may be exposed to sunlight for prolonged periods of time. This can result in lines of faded colour. In extreme cases, holes can appear, particularly in red and yellow fabrics.

This is not a problem caused by your washing machine and no repair or service visit will be able to resolve the issue.

None. This damage cannot be reversed sadly.

Cause & Prevention

The fabric has been exposed to direct sunlight for long periods

Use curtain linings or window blinds to help protect fabrics from direct sunlight.

Minimise the length of time fabrics are left outside on the washing line.
